Behind the Music: RWorld Leaders Embrace an Evolving Industry

The Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors® is no stranger to thinking outside the box when it comes to strategy. The real estate industry across the nation is going through a reformation, and RWorld Leaders are taking action in a nontraditional manner to demonstrate their commitment to serving and leading with enthusiasm and dedication.

When starting the year in 2024, RWorld President David Serle said, "It can't just be business as usual," so he set off to strengthen relationships with his fellow executive team before the year was underway and used the installation as a springboard for tackling adversity head-on. President Serle was committed to ensuring that his executive leadership team was in sync, dancing to the same beat, and strengthened as a unified body.

The Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors® is well known around the country for their annual installations, and the 2024 installation will certainly be remembered as one of the most memorable yet. President David Serle had a specific vision for this year's theme, the Rock Experience. Outside of the fun decor and theatrical laser light show, his vision held purpose and intention.

In October of 2023, President Serle challenged his incoming executive team to get uncomfortable and unite to learn to play an instrument and form a band. Interestingly, not one executive team leader knew how to play an instrument, let alone play together as a band. President Serle believed they could enhance their collaboration, creativity, and resilience by learning to operate like a rock band.

The team accepted his challenge, and for three months, they all worked together weekly at the School of Rock in Boca Raton. They started from the basics and learned chords, rhythms, and performance art. More importantly, they learned to listen to each other, synchronize their actions, and create a harmonious output from diverse skills.

After three months of carpal tunnel, bruised thumbs, and anxiety, the team, ready or not, had to step on stage in front of 375 peers and unveil what they were truly made of. Many key industry leaders were in the crowd, including the newly appointed National Association of Realtors® President Kevin Sears. President Serle addressed the crowd at the installation, letting the audience know what they have been working on as a team and the story of how they are ready to start the year nsync.

He stated,  "We're here to rock the real estate world, not just be a part of it!” The crowd roared and was excited to see their leadership team perform.

President David Serle played the electric guitar; President-Elect Jonathan Lickstein also played the electric guitar; First Vice President Kenny Silverman played the keyboard; Treasurer Monica Hands was the lead vocalist, Secretary Carlos Alleyne played Bass Guitar and Immediate Past President Chris Krzemien on the drums. Their sound was amazing, and they rocked two songs almost perfectly, and with the crowd cheering encore, they played a final song.

President Serle's vision was clear: to show that leadership roles in the real estate market, like rock music, require passion, adaptability, and, most importantly, teamwork. The installation wasn't just about becoming a rock band; it was about embodying the spirit of rock - to be fearless, cohesive, and ready for every challenge in 2024. The band may not make the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but they have undoubtedly made RWorld history.
